5 January
Another new year - in reality the beginning
of the millennium, or however u spell it. I have been so busy since
I last wrote aye ... Sun has come and gone back home, had Christmas and
New Years ... and seem to have travelled around most of the bottom half
of the South Island.
As you will guess, you will need to revisit this page several times over the next few weeks as I will remember things I should have written ... or more likely, Sunflower will have reminded me. Hi ya Sweety.
Ok ... well the 27th ... a Wednesday. I woke up at 6:30am and got a taxi at 7:15am. Got on the bus to Christchurch at 7:45am and started my trip to Christchurch, Yes, I was nervous ... well maybe more apprehensive. I also had some past history of getting off this bus in Christchurch and had to deal with that. I was to discover when I got off the bus I had done that.
Anyways, the bus stopped at Oamaru, and I went to the near buy shop to cash in the $4 card I had got on Christmas. I then went to the nearby cafe to get one of their $3 books ... nothing to my interest so I got a paper. Then back on and up to Timaru. There, I had a 30 minute stop, so I walked into town, got a drink and a sammie from a shop and looked around. Oh, I had read the paper in the bus. The bus picked up a retired guy who had been fishing and I had a interesting chat with him .. picked him up somewhere between Oamaru and Timaru.
Left Timaru, went past Ashburton and then to Christchurch (sorry about spelling of place names). Well, just as I got passed the hospital, My phone rang and it was Sunflower ... wahooo!!!. She had seen the bus and was in the square. I was so looking forward to meeting her aye. Well, I got my bad and started to walk towards the square (centre of Christchurch).
Well i saw this gorgeous figure walking towards me ... yep, looked like her - blond tined hair ... sexy bod ... shit - how do I greet her - hand shake, hug, kiss?? Hmmm ... can't remember what I did - hug and kiss I think ... but she didn't run away. I remember calling her a liar. She had told me I would run away when I saw her - well I ran towards her :). Well, we got a bus to the camp. As I was to discover - well sun was, I always went the wrong way, or chose the wrong bus, so we had a good 30 minute walk to the camp!!!.
Well, we got there ... I dropped my bad in the room and .............. I opened up my present from Sun - it was fantastic :) Thank you Sweety - several pairs of boxers, and some smellies.
Anyways, as I try to get the correct even on
the correct day, we did not have a car so we walked into the shops, and
had some food .... after looking around the
shops we decided to go to a film ... ummm we saw .... "Meet the parents".
It was a great film, a good ice breaker ... although we had well and truly
broken that ice. From there we went back to the camp ground and discussed
our adventures for the next day. I think I had sent several ppl some text
messages from her phone also.
Ok, 28th ... a Thursday ..... hmmm .... we got up earlish, and got the bus to the square ... we were intending to get there for breakfast at McDonalds, but were 2 late. We walked and picked up the car and drove to Orana Park. We must have been there for well over 3 hours .... was great - walking, chatting, catching the shuttle when we were lazy. Unlike the hot Wednesday - there was a lot of cloud cover ... so it was great. Sun got me a lion soft toy - it is sitting on top of my puter ... wonder if it is related to WalkingLion or LionessLair (off Firetalk). Hmmmm ....
From there we went to the Antarctic Centre near the airport. That was after me telling Sun to driver in the wrong direction!!! Rather expensive there I must say. One thing I noticed was Sun buying spoons - must have got over 10 while we were touring ... well we got :) One thing I noticed, Sun is a very generous person. :)) We had our 1st game of mini golf ... Sun won.
I am now racking my brain to figure out what we did. Something is telling me we went to the film on the Thursday ... not sure now. I remember we went to the supermarket ... and got some choc biscuits and other stuff. Oh, I remember ,was not the film, we went for a drive and went on the gondola's ... and Sun got me a small bear :) I got her some things .. and a magnet for Spicy I think ... or did I? Well after time there .. with Sun's film running out, we went through the Lyttleton tunnel, over the port hills, through Sumner and back to the camp ground. It was either Wednesday or today we had a sauna - god it was hot.
Hmmm - wonder what I have missed out so far ...... Remember to check in a week to get the additions and corrections.
Well Friday 29th we left nice and early to dunedin. Dunedin. We left around 9:30am and had breakfast at McDonalds and looked around a shopping centre ... Ricarrton from memory. Left there around 10am. Drove almost non-stop to Timaru where we stopped at Caralyne Bay and looked around the fair golf ... played a game of mini golf ... which I won. Oh, I also won a box of toffee's at a bingo game.
Ok, well after leaving Timaru went went passed Oamaru and had a drink and a very pleasant visit with BlueRose/Dannii/Ali. And then hit Dunedin just b4 6pm. Well were about to get out of the car to get some stuff at the shop and got hit by a hail storm ... well we ran for it. Got Some stuff, then arrived home. Into to mum ... some food and then we went for a trip around Dunedin - to signal Hill outlook, etc. Then bed.
Oh, b4 this I gave her her Xmas present. The only clues I had given her b4 is 1. It vibrates. 2. it comes with attachments and 3. it will get you all wet!!!. Well, of course it was a foot massager :) Hope she liked it.
We woke up at 7am Saturday 30th. We decided to have a change of plans and go to Queenstown today and Invers on Sunday. well we stopped at eeerr Balclutha I think to a bring and buy... ummm - had a pie and a drink and carried on our way. it was raining on and off all the time. One thing I can state is Sun is a very good driver ... especially when one considers she had never been on these roads b4.
Hit Queenstown just b4 noon. We had stopped at Clyde Dam and a few other places. What did we do ... hmmm - walked the streets, looked around at the market, ummm ... had some burger king for lunch ... and had 2 games of mini golf. One on a electronic indoor course - Sun won, and one out a more traditional outdoor course - I won. The 1st course was fantastic, although it seems i had people laughing at me a lot - well I guess I did perform some interesting shots.
So we left 2-2. After some time we went
to Arrowtown - their mini golf was closed ... as were most of the shops
at 6pm. Ummm we managed to miss the Wanaka turn-off so decided to
head off home. We got some fruit at Roxbrough and headed home.
OK Sunday 31st - New years Eve. Well .. again got up at 7am and headed South to Invercargill ... got there and travelled further South to bluff - I have a certificate to prove it!!. From there we went to the paua house. The owner is the grandfather of Shane walker, one of my Comf lecturers. The weather was bad again , raining on and off .... we could just see Stewart Island. We travelled into Invercargill .... no mini golf found. we got hit by more hail and had some lunch there. Again, there was not a lot open. We did go to the information centre and look around the museum though. Oh, we went to The Warehouse and got loads of stuff - I gave Sun a soft toy. We left Invers around 2pm, getting back to dunedin in time for a rest, and then we went with Mum to a Dinner. After that we went into town briefly, but as it was raining we did not stay long.
Well ... I will expand on the below parts later - my brain is asleep.
6 January
Well lets see if I can fill in the gaps
below.
OK January 1st 2001. Believe it - I am unsure what we did on Monday - is was wet from memory ... the shops were closed ... or were they. Nop, some were open. We went to the Museum and looked around ... got in the car and did some shopping at Big Fresh - chips and Dip and stiff .... hold it, we must have done that shopping earlier -as we eat some of it last nite ... hmmmm. I think we went to the warehouse and I got a new pillow. Yes we did as I slept on it last night. Hmmm ... what did we do .....
From memory we had a relaxed day - looking around town..... as it was wet!!!.
2nd January - Got a phone call in the morning from Dad ... was my birthday - ummm .... god my mind has gone - must be the time of the nite or something. I remember going to town as more of the shops were open. We went to Valentines for a meal. We were in town earlier and did some shopping.
3rd Jam ... a Wednesday - To start the day off we had a game of mini golf. Sun won, well I think she did as we never counted the scores. So she is winning 3-2. So I will have to get her in Auckland!!. We then went to town, I had a 30 min lecturer. That's right we - had coffee with Bourbon, TotallyAddicted and Daisy-Chain. I picked up my graduation photo's. Ummm Sun bought a calendar and diary, and ummm we had some food and drink ... We got home around 5pm, cooked dinns, and went for a tour around Speights. I think I will be getting Sun to drink it more often!!! Arrived home ... Sun's last night :((
4th January. we were meant to go with mum to a friend's 60th birthday party -in the morning - a champagne breakfast. Well, we decided to spend the time together. So, we stayed in bed till 10ish, went into town, went back to the outlook as it was a nice hot sunny day ... and then had a look at the birds at the garden's. I got dropped off at uni around 11:45 and saw Sunflower disappear into the sunset. Needless to say 10 minutes later I rang her :))
Around 2 hours later I received a call from Sun, she had got a flute just by the Oamaru airport turn-off. Well, she wang AA and was on her way within the hour. After that she got a new tire in Timaru and was in ChCh b4 5 I think. God I miss her :(
Well back to the present ... Sat Jan. 6th. I have had 2 days of lectures during Summer School - only 800 people and Uni seems to be a ghost town!!! Seems to be interesting. I need to get a ink thingee for my printer though so I can print lecture notes off and essays etc. Hope to get some money on Tuesday. Need to apply for course related costs. As usual, I have lost most of my receipts.
Well, enough for now .... As I have said pop back in a week or 2 and I should have corrected and updated the above after Sunflower reads it. There are also some more personal things I intend to add - but that will have to wait for another day.
11 January
Sorry for my recent slackness, but I have
been attending Summer School at University, and it has whipped me out most
days. I am finding Maori language not the easiest to do - as I thought.
Well I have a test next Wednesday, so I need help with my pronunciation.
